An Afternoon in Manila (Philippines)

Manila, Philippines

This was my first time in the Philippines. We finished an amazing two weeks of scuba diving ending with a short stop in Manila, so I was keen to get out and see what the city was like in the little time I had.

Before the flight home, I spent three or four hours wandering the streets around Binondo and Quiapo areas, exploring what I could. Despite Manila's reputation for being incredibly busy and crowded, it was unusually quiet and traffic-free that afternoon, and I really had to hunt to find where people and things were going on.

These photos are my attempt to capture as much of it as I could: people waiting, people going about their day-to-day, and people paying tribute and worshipping around the nearby church.

Spotted yourself in one of my photos? I'd be happy to share a copy - drop me an email at hello@shaunlotay.com or DM me on socials 😊
